Overview

Shaikhah Import, Export & Shipping Co needed an identity that reads Arabic first. AWAcyber built the mark as a calligraphic logotype — the name شيخة drawn as a single flowing stroke — set against a stepped wave block that doubles as a rising chart, so the sea the company ships across and the growth it trades on are the same shape. The system pairs the calligraphy with a bilingual descriptor in Arabic and English, a two-colour palette of deep navy and pale sky, and a Montserrat and Cairo type pairing that holds both scripts at the same optical weight.

The Challenge

A freight company trading between Arabic-speaking and international markets has to introduce itself twice in the same signature, without either language looking like a translation of the other. The mark also had to survive the range a logistics brand actually appears in — small on documentation, reversed on a navy ground, and large enough on roadside signage to be read from a moving vehicle — while keeping calligraphic strokes that thin dramatically at their tails.

Our Solution

The logotype is the word شيخة written as one continuous calligraphic gesture, with an extended terminal flourish arcing back across the word to close the composition. Behind it sits a stepped block whose top edge is a wave crest that also climbs from left to right, giving the brand a single device that reads as water or as growth depending on context; the same wave shape is reused to present the palette itself. Three variations cover the grounds the company prints on: solid navy on light grey, pale sky on white, and a reversed white logotype on navy. The palette stays deliberately narrow — deep navy #131a7a and pale sky #a7e8fc — so the mark holds up in single-colour reproduction. Montserrat Medium sets the English descriptor and Cairo Medium the Arabic, chosen at matched optical weight so neither script dominates the lockup, and the system was proven at scale on roadside signage.

Our Process

  1. 1Arabic calligraphic logotype development
  2. 2Wave-and-growth block device derivation
  3. 3Bilingual descriptor lockup in Arabic and English
  4. 4Logo variations for light grey, white and navy grounds
  5. 5Two-colour palette definition
  6. 6Type pairing for Arabic and Latin at matched optical weight
  7. 7Outdoor signage application
